Imphal: According to sources, the situation in Manipur continues to be volatile as intermittent firing continues in Phayeng and Singda villages under the Imphal West-Kangpokpi border area.
On the midnight of July 9, there were reports of exchange of fire from both sides of the communities, in which one person was reported to have been killed in addition to the casualties from both sides.
Additional troops of the Assam Rifles were brought in to bring the situation under control, resulting in a ceasefire by the morning of 10 July.
Notably, on the morning of July 10, unprovoked firing resumed from Singda village towards the hill.
There is fear of loss of lives from both sides. Meanwhile, the army and police are conducting a search operation in the area.
