In Imphal west a Indian army personnel injured in unprovoked firing

Manipur: Infrequent firing broke out on the midnight of June 18 when miscreants resorted to unprovoked firing from Kanto Sabal towards Chingmang village, sources said, resulting in the injury of an army personnel.
Army columns controlled the retaliatory fire keeping in mind the presence of villagers in the area. One military personnel was injured by bullet and was immediately evacuated to Military Hospital Leimakhong.

His condition is currently reported to be stable.
Meanwhile, additional columns have been added to the area and joint operations are underway.

Earlier it was reported that 9 people were killed and several injured in the firing by miscreants in Khamenlok village under Kangpokpi, Manipur. An FIR was also registered at the Imphal police station.

The incident took place on June 12 around 6:30 pm.
According to the FIR, VP Srivastav, Second in Command, Camp Commandt. Headquarters IGAR(S) lodged a complaint against a person identified as Jagat Thoundam, adviser of the Indigenous People’s Front, Manipur.
Miscreants also set fire to several houses in Khamenlok village, and several people were injured in Gobajang, Tamenglong district.

The situation in the violent northeastern state remains tense, as security personnel continue to patrol high-risk areas to prevent breakdown of law and order.
