Imphal: Manipur police’s bomb detection and disposal squad recovered and defused two World War II bombs at different locations in the state on Wednesday, police said.
Manipur and some other parts of North-East witnessed WW-II where Allied forces and Zxis forces clashed in 1944.
Police said a bomb believed to be World War II was recovered while doing earthwork in a paddy field at Yaripok Loukon under Yaripok police station in Thoubal district around 10.30 am on Wednesday.
The second bomb, also believed to be of World War II era, was found in Keibi village under Sagolmang police station in Imphal East district. The old bomb was discovered on Wednesday while digging a pond.
The police added that the bombs were safely destroyed by police bomb experts at various locations.
