Imphal: A fresh clash broke out between Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel and an angry mob in Manipur’s Imphal on Friday evening.

A godown near the Imphal Palace grounds was also set on fire by the angry mob.
Security personnel in the area fired tear gas to disperse the crowd and prevent further destruction of property.

Meanwhile, fire department personnel of Manipur reached the spot and controlled the fire in the godown.
Timely action of fire department personnel prevented the fire in the warehouse from spreading to nearby houses.

According to sources, the warehouse belonged to a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from one of Manipur’s tribal communities.
Earlier on Thursday (June 15) night, a mob set fire to the residence of Union Minister of State for External Affairs RK Ranjan Singh at Kongba in Imphal, violence-hit Manipur.
The mob stormed the Manipur Union Minister’s residence and later set it on fire.

Manipur police have arrested 17 people in connection with setting fire to Union Minister RK Ranjan Singh’s residence.
According to sources, 12 people have been arrested from Imphal East, while five others have been arrested from Manipur’s Imphal West district.
Speaking on the incident, Union Minister RK Ranjan Singh said he was ‘shocked’ at the complete breakdown of the law and order situation in Manipur.

“I am shocked. Union Minister RK Ranjan Singh said that the law and order situation in Manipur has completely collapsed.
