Manipur: Just days after minister Nemcha Kipgen’s residence in Imphal was torched on June 15, miscreants set fire to the property of Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education RK Ranjan Singh in Kongba-Nandeibam Leikai area of Imphal East yesterday evening.
A large mob of miscreants stormed the gate of RK Ranjan Singh’s residence last night around 11 pm.
It was around 11 pm when the mob stormed the campus and set fire to their residence and a few indigenous structures.
Ranjan Singh’s house was partially burnt, and the built structure was completely destroyed.
The crowd outnumbered the house guards posted at the residential gate.
The Imphal East police fired teargas shells to disperse the group when they gathered near the residence of RK Ranjan Singh.
RK Ranjan Singh and his family were not present at the time of the incident.
Earlier on June 15 miscreants burnt a house in New Checkon area of Imphal East.
According to sources, this incident took place on June 15 around 1 pm. According to reports, the area is dominated by people of Kukis, Meitei, Muslims and Bengali origin.
