In Imphal East security forces seized 36 arms, 1615 explosives

Imphal: On October 19, a joint team of District Commando Imphal East, Sagolmang Police Station and columns of 2/8 Gurkha Regiment seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition and other equipment in Manipur.
Search operations were conducted in the sensitive areas of Manipur’s Kakching, Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts where a large cache of arms, ammunition was recovered from Waken, Shantipur and Khamenlok hills under Sagolmang police station.
A total of 36 weapons were recovered, including modern weapons like AK-47/56, homemade rifle, carbine machine gun, lead launcher and revolver.
Additionally, ammunition and explosives (1615 nos.) including INSAS rifle, hand grenades, detonators, locally made pistols. During the search operation, 132 items were also recovered.
Search operations are underway in the fringes and vulnerable areas of the state where violent incidents have been witnessed since May 3, 2023.
