In Imphal east arson attack on minister Susindro house, BJP office

Imphal East: In a fresh case of violence in Manipur state, miscreants set ablaze on June 24 a private warehouse of Manipur’s Public Health Engineering Department, Consumer and Food Affairs Minister L.Susindro Meiteii at Chingarel Tezpur.
At around 10.40 pm, a mob barged into the minister’s house and tried to set the building on fire, but alert security forces arrived in time and succeeded in dispersing the mob by shelling tear gas.
The fire incident was reported from Ishirou near Sajiwa Jail, where the miscreants also set fire to the BJP office. Chingarel Tezpur COB is located 9.8 km east of Singjamei under Heingang police station under Imphal East district of Manipur.
Meanwhile, the security forces reached the spot and extinguished the fire and brought the situation under control.

The incident took place a few hours before Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s all-party meeting on the situation in Manipur. The meeting will be held today at 3 pm in Delhi.
With the situation in the state still volatile, protestors have come out to demand security and end incidents of arson and vandalism. Protesters belonging to various groups and organizations have also demanded an answer from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for maintaining silence on the issue.
