In Imphal East a woman shot dead by miscreants, face disfigured

Imphal East: According to sources, a woman in her 50s was allegedly shot dead and her face mutilated by armed miscreants in Sawambang area of ​​Manipur’s Imphal East district on the evening of July 15.
The woman, identified as Lucy Marim Maring, was allegedly shot in the face by some armed men at her residence in Beaulahram Village, Pallel Game Village, Zone-3, Zone-3 of Manipur, after which her face contorted.
A search and raid was conducted by the Manipur Police after which four accused have been arrested. Later, the angry mob burnt the houses of these accused.
The accused have been identified as Konsam Naocha of Huidrom Mayai Leikai, Ongam Suraj of Keibi Heikak Mapal, Thounaojam Lata of Sawombung and Ahanthem Subita of Sawombung Maning Leikai.
A case has been registered against the accused at Manipur’s Lamlai Police Station for further investigation.
The unrest continues to escalate in Manipur as there are reports of gunfights, arson and vandalism by armed miscreants.
Despite the deployment of security personnel across the state, more than 100 people have been killed in violence-related incidents across Manipur.
