Imphal: The Manipur government has relaxed curfew in Imphal East and Imphal West from 5 am to 6 pm for Friday (August 25) stating considerable improvement in the law-and-order situation in the districts.

As per orders issued by the respective district magistrates on Wednesday, curfew has been relaxed in both districts in order to facilitate the general public in purchasing essential items including medicines and food.

However, movement of persons belonging to essential services such as health, electricity, PHED, petrol pumps, schools/colleges, municipality, power (MSPDCL/MSPCL), press and electronic media, functioning of courts and to and fro movement of flight passengers to the airport will be exempted from the imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation, the magistrates stated.
