Imphal: A leader of the banned Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup, (KYKL) was arrested in a search and checking operation conducted by commandos of the Imphal West District Police in downtown Imphal, police said on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Imphal West District police commandos launched an operation at Keishampat Churachandpur bus parking in the heart of Imphal city around 5.30 pm on Tuesday and arrested the KYKL leader, police said.
The arrested freedom-fighter was later identified as Loukrakpam Tangba alias Suman (41) from Bishnupur Maning Leikai Ward No. 3 in Birshnupur District, Manipur joined KYKL.
He underwent basic military training along with 38 other cadres in Khoupam area of Noni district of Manipur and currently holds a senior rank.
He is working under the command of Ingba, a self-styled colonel of the organization.
Police said Tungba was sent from Tanan camp in Myanmar by his commander to carry out some work in the valley area. Police added that the arrested person has been handed over to Imphal PS for necessary action.
