In Imphal amid Independence day 2023, security beefed up
Imphal: As a security measure ahead of the 77th Independence Day celebrations, security has been beefed up in Imphal West.
A team of District Commando, Imphal West conducted search and verification operations in various areas of the district on Sunday.
The commando team conducted a search operation at Yaiskul Janmasthan from 5.30 am to 7 am. During the operation, 28 houses and 52 people were confirmed. However, no person was detained or picked up.
On the evening of the same day, the commando team conducted a similar search operation and bailout in the adjoining areas of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak and Keishamthong Longjam Leirak from 3 pm to 4.15 pm.
A total of 50 houses were searched in the police operation, but no one was detained.
The district commando team carried out similar operations at Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai and hangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai from 4.35 pm to 5.30 pm on the same day.
During the search operation, around 45 houses were searched and the police identified 80 persons, including two bailouts of various underground organizations.
However, the police said that no one was detained.
