Manipur: In a shocking incident, 32 Kuki students studying at Government Polytechnic Takyel, Imphal were allegedly attacked by a Meitei mob.
According to reports, Kuki students studying in a government polytechnic were taken away by the Assam Rifles amid the ongoing unrest in the state.
On the way, the Meitei mob intercepted the escort at Langjing Imphal West.
The mob also tried to pull the students from the bus and when the army resisted, the mob allegedly punctured the tires of the bus and pelted stones.
According to reports, though the incident took place on May 4, the issue came to light only on May 24 due to an internet connectivity issue.
Earlier on May 24, thousands of Kuki protestors in Saparmeina village reiterated not to preach peace before a solution.
Similar protests in Kangpokpi town and Keithelmanbi village were followed by a sit-in protest today at Saparmeina village in Kangpokpi district demanding immediate central government intervention with a negotiated political solution between the UPF and KNO and the governments.
Sticking to the consensus of the Kukis, “Solution First, Peace Next”, the 1,000 protesters urged the government and its machinery not to start talks or any peace process before any solution is reached.
