Guwahati: A motorcyclist lost his life in a hit-and-run case on the city’s VIP road on Tuesday night.
The died person has been identified as Jitu Kalita, a native of Tangla in Udalguri district of Assam.
According to reports, the man was traveling in the Six Mile area when he was allegedly hit from behind by a speeding truck, causing him to fall several meters away from the collision site.
Information received confirms that the person died on the spot.
After the alleged accident, the truck driver fled with the vehicle from the scene.
As it was a late-night accident it was easy for the driver to escape from the location.
The local police in Guwahati are being informed about the same and they have launched a hunt for both the vehicle and the driver.
Two days ago, a woman died after a hit-and-run accident on the National Highway 37 near Lalunggaon area, close to Lokhra Chariali.
A vehicle struck her fatally as she tried to cross the road.
Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
