
In Hailakandi on duty Assam police ASI nabbed for bribery
Guwahati: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Assam Police was arrested in Hailakandi on Tuesday for accepting bribe.
The police officer was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption based on a complaint.
He was arrested through a trap laid by detectives after a person lodged a complaint that he demanded money in connection with a case.
The accused has been identified as Hitush Nath. He was posted at Abdullah Police Patrol Post in Hailakandi.
The police officer was arrested while accepting a bribe of 10,000 rupees.
He demanded this money as a bribe to settle the dispute between the two parties.
According to the sources, there were many other charges against the accused.
He is currently being questioned and is likely to be suspended.
