In Hague Manipuri Diaspora hold peace march
The Hague (Netherlands): The Manipur Diaspora, under the auspices of Global Manipur Federation Central Europe Chapter, took out a peace march in The Hague on August 26, demanding unity and early restoration of peace in the violence-torn state.
The march was attended by a number of Meitei women dressed in their traditional weed clothes, who spoke about the need for peace in Manipur.
Participants also carried placards with messages such as “Plant peace, not poppies” and “Stand strong, uphold indigenous rights”.
The peace march began with a two-minute silence in honor of the victims of communal violence in Manipur.
This was followed by prayers and speeches by community leaders. The march concluded with a symbolic walk from the Peace Palace to nearby Park Lange Vijverberg.
