Guwahati: The Regional Committees of both the States of Assam and Meghalaya met at State Guest House No. 1, Koinadhora, Guwahati.
Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, other officials of Kamrup and Meghalaya-related districts of both the states were present.
The meeting discussed the border issues in the three regions of Kamrup (M) and Kamrup districts.
On the other hand, the DCs of both the states will submit the preliminary report and based on this, the meeting of the regional committees will be held on August 25.
The Regional Committees will also jointly visit West Dimoria region on August 26.
Earlier on July 15, a meeting was held at the auditorium of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School at Umkiang in East Jaintia Hills Meghalaya to resolve the Assam-Meghalaya issue.
Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai participated in the meeting on behalf of the Assam government.
Talking to the media, Chandra Mohan Patowary said, “Today’s meeting was held regarding a village regarding the Assam-Meghalaya border dispute…Based on the discussion, it was decided that the two committees will submit an unbiased report which the people of both the states are happy with.”
