Goalpara: Assam Police on April 16 recovered a large cache of explosives from a passenger bus at Krishnai in Goalpara district.
A total of 1162 gelatin sticks and 998 detonators were seized from a passenger bus with registration number AS-25-AC-5475, which was going to Lutumbari in Khasi Hills of Meghalaya and Hatsingimari in Assam.
The seizure was made after a successful raid conducted by the state police after getting a tip-off about the transport of explosives in one of the passenger buses.
Police have arrested a man, identified as Abdul Malek, a resident of Rajabala in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills.
However, the police are yet to ascertain whether the supplier of the consignment is linked to any organisation. The operation was carried out on secret information.
Meanwhile, the police are interrogating the arrested person to find out more links to the seizure.
