Imphal: Seven arms, 45 ammunitions and three bombs have been recovered during search operations in vulnerable and fringe areas of Manipur, police said on Saturday.
In a statement, Manipur Police said that two civilians were also injured in firing by armed miscreants in the southern part of the state during the last 24 hours.
Firing by armed miscreants took place during the last 24 hours in Phougakchao Ikhai, Kangvai and Terakhongsangbi areas of the inter-districts of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts in the southern part of Manipur.
Manipur said two persons were injured in the firing and security forces retaliated and repulsed the miscreants.
During this period, 503 people have been detained in connection with curfew violation at different places across the state. Curfew has been imposed in some places in the state against the background of improvement in the law and order situation due to ongoing ethnic violence.
The Manipur Police also said that the security forces have intensified search operations in insecure and marginal areas of the state to recover illegal arms and ammunition. The operation is likely to continue in the coming days.
