According to police reports, the arrests were made following a tip-off about ongoing extortion activities in the area. The trio was intercepted by law enforcement officers as they were approaching traders for monetary contributions purportedly on behalf of ULFA.

Sanjib Baruah, Bendang Julsuu, and Bhavesh Kalita were swiftly taken into custody and subsequently presented before the court today. The police have charged them with extortion and are investigating their alleged links to the banned outfit ULFA (United Liberation Front of Assam).
