Guwahati: In Assam’s Dhubri, three people were beaten up by locals on suspicion of cattle rustling.
According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday morning at Baghdoghar in Tamarhat of Dhubri.
The three men were caught by locals on suspicion as they were allegedly found with stolen cattle.
The natives beat them up when they found out that the cattle they had belonged to a fellow villager in the area.
The accused were identified as Naveen Rai, Nazrul Sheikh, and Mujibur Sheikh.
The locals apprehended them and took the stolen cattle back further thrashing them out of rage.
However, a police team arrived on the spot before the situation worsened and arrested all three accused.
The police are currently interrogating them to find their links to cattle smuggling rackets.
