GUWAHATI: At least 22 people, including teachers and students, have been detained from across Assam for questions related to the leaked question paper of General Science for the Class 10 state board examination. The test was cancelled, a senior police officer said.
State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, however, said that some people have been arrested. He did not share details of the arrests, citing an ongoing investigation.

A criminal case was registered by the Assam Police and the investigation was handed over to the CID on Monday.
Assam Director General of Police Gyanendra Pratap Singh said that a total of 22 people have been detained from Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.

Further legal action is being taken against them as per law. We are determined to expose the question paper leak and the network of conspirators,” he tweeted.
“The investigation is on, so I can’t give much details about the case,” the state education minister told reporters outside the Assam Assembly.

He said some teachers have also been arrested and termed the development as “unfortunate”.
Pegu had said on Monday: “There is no question of involvement of teachers. Papers are kept in police stations and taken to examination centers on the morning of the exam day itself.
The minister also appealed to people to share any information related to the case with the police.

The General Science exam, which was scheduled to be held on Monday, was canceled by the Secondary Education Board, Assam (SEBA) on Sunday night following reports of the question paper being leaked.

In a notification on Monday, SEBA said March 30 was the revised date for the exam.
