In Churachandpur road accident thirteen pilgrims injured

Imphal: Thirteen pilgrims, including two minors and a woman, were injured when their car, on their way home after offering prayers at a hilltop temple, met with an accident while coming down from the top of Thangjung Hills in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, an official report said on Monday.
The accident occurred when the DI Tata truck in which he was traveling skidded into the Bale mountain range along the road that stretches from Tiddim Road to Thangjing Hills, about 50 km from Imphal, the report said.

On Sunday, hundreds of pilgrims were on pilgrimage to the local Thangjing deity after the traditional Manipuri New Year Cheiraoba.
As soon as the tragedy was reported, several organizations including Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (KKL) and philanthropic organizations from Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts reached the spot and carried out the evacuation process.

The KKL-GHQ volunteers then rushed the accident victims to Moirang Health Center where three critical victims were referred to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal for further medical treatment.
The report further said that Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti extended his body to the injured.
