In Churachandpur Pherzawl district govt suspends internet services

In order to prevent any disturbance of law and order within the jurisdiction of Churachandpur and Pherzawl District Manipur, the suspension of internet shall remain in force for the next 5 (five) days and with effect immediately after the order of suspension comes into effect. The action will continue.
It may be mentioned here that the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) Churachandpur in a press release dated 27-04-2023 has announced non-cooperation in all programs related to the government and on 28-04-2023 I have called for a complete shutdown.  Protest against land and forest survey collected by concerned authority from 8 AM to 4 PM.
At around 8:30 pm on 27th April, suspected ITLF volunteers and supporters came in large numbers and vandalized the open gym at PT Sports Complex Churachandpur which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Monble Manipur on 28-04-2023.
It is worth mentioning here that after the violence, the situation in Churachandpur district is tense and volatile.

And while some anti-social elements are using social media extensively to spread inflammatory images, hate speech and hate video messages.

and where it becomes necessary to thwart the designs and activities of anti-national and anti-social elements and to maintain peace and communal harmony and to prevent any loss of life or danger to public/private property, that the law Adequate measures should be taken to maintain In the public interest, by preventing the spread of false information and false rumors through mobile phones and SMS through various social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., to facilitate the agitation and protesting crowd. and/or mobilization order. , who may indulge in arson/vandalism and other types of violent activities causing loss of life and/or damage to public/private property.
NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred under Rule 2 of the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017, being satisfied that the above situation is serious to the entire peaceful coexistence. There is a risk of disruption. Communities and maintenance of public order, hereby order the suspension/stopping of mobile data services in the territorial jurisdiction of Churachandpur and Pherzawl Districts of Manipur.
All mobile service providers are directed to ensure compliance with this order.

In view of the emergency, this order is being issued unilaterally. It shall be published for public information through press and electronic media.
On the other hand, the District Magistrate (DM) of Churachandpur has imposed indefinite prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in Churachandpur district ahead of CM Biren Singh’s visit.

A report has been received from the Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur that there is a possibility of breach of peace, disturbance of public tranquility and grave danger to life and property in the revenue jurisdiction of Churachandpur district.
Whereas it is imperative that immediate prevention of disturbance of law and order and disruption of public order and endangerment of human life and property be undertaken.
