Imphal: Amid the ongoing unrest in the hill state of Manipur, miscreants have allegedly looted valuables worth Rs 1.5 crore from a bank in Churachandpur.
According to reports, the Axis Bank in Churachandpur district, which was closed for almost two months, has been looted.
It should be noted that the miscreants had looted cash and gold ornaments.
According to reports, unknown looters dug a hole in the rear of the bank’s concrete building, which is believed to be the entry point.
Axis Bank staff said the branch manager was not present and had little knowledge of the theft.

Meanwhile, the situation in Manipur remains volatile as sporadic firing continues in Phayeng and Singda villages under Imphal West Kangpokpi border area.
In the middle of the night of July 9, exchange of fire was reported from both sides of the communities in which one person was killed besides the casualties from both sides.
Additional troops of the Assam Rifles were brought in to bring the situation under control, resulting in a ceasefire by the morning of 10 July.
Notably, on the morning of July 10, unprovoked firing resumed from Singda village towards the hill.
