
In Churachandpur district ITLF calls for complete shutdown
Imphal: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) had called for a complete shutdown in Lon Phi, Khosabang, Kangwai and Sugnu areas of Churachandpur on August 31.
In a release, the apex tribal organization alleged that Lonphai, Khousabung, Kangvai and Sugnu areas were under attack. Further, the ITLF demanded an emergency shutdown in Churachandpur district with immediate effect.
However, emergency services like medical, police, water power and press are exempted.
Earlier on August 29, one person was killed in fresh violence in Manipur and an incident of heavy firing was reported from Khoirentak area.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 10:00 am on August 29 in which the miscreants attacked Kuki-Zo village in the vicinity of Khoirentak area.
Sources said that the village volunteers opened heavy fire in response to the attack. A village volunteer was killed in this incident. The deceased has been identified as Jangminlun Gangte, son of Mangkholien Gangte, aged 30 years.
