
In Changlang camp of revolutionary group busted by Police
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Police on Thursday busted a camp of an revolutionary outfit in Changlang district and recovered arms and ammunition.
State Task Force (STF) Superintendent of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh said that this is the first major operation by the police against the revolutionists.
On receiving information about the presence of Eastern Naga National Government (ENGG) fighters in Lungpang village, IGP (Law and Order) Chukhu Appa hatched a plan to destroy the camp.
It was then enforced by Changlang Superintendent of Police Mihin Gambo and Singh along with a team of STF and district police.
The SP said that a reconnaissance was conducted near the camp on Wednesday during which five suspected rebels were spotted.
Singh said that a controlled attack was carried out in the area on Thursday morning which forced the revolutionists to leave their hideouts.
Singh said the team recovered one AK-47 rifle, one M16 rifle, one hand grenade, six magazines, ammunition and documents from the camp.
After that, the police personnel destroyed the camp.
Singh added that the outfit was on the radar of the state police for a few months, and a strategy was drawn up for necessary action, to counter the threat posed by the revolutionists.
