Silchar: A huge cache of explosives, believed to be meant for violence-hit Manipur, was recovered and seized by the police in Assam.
The seizure of the explosives was carried out on Sunday (06 August) at Ranighat in Assam’s Cachar district.
About 200 sticks of gelatin and detonators used in making bombs were recovered.
According to reports, the two youths, who were carrying a sack full of explosives, abandoned it after being challenged by the police team.
Both youths managed to escape.
However, investigation into the matter has been started.
It may be mentioned here that Manipur has been on the boil since May 3 after communal clashes and large-scale violence erupted in the state.
Over 150 people lost their lives and thousands were displaced in the violence in Manipur.
