
In Cachar Drugs worth of 1 Crore seized, one peddler arrested
Guwahati: In the fight against drugs, the Assam Rifles under Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) and Cachar Police on Tuesday recovered 20,000 WY bullets worth around Rs 1 crore from Lakhipur sub-division of Cachar district.
An official update said that a drug dealer has been arrested in this case. The recovered consignment and the arrested person were handed over to the Assam Police for further legal action.
“Drug trafficking is a major cause of concern in the Northeast due to its proximity to the Golden Triangle. The Assam Rifles, rightly called the ‘Sentinels of the Northeast’, have continued their efforts against the drug menace. which continues to fuel insurgency in the region,” the update said.
The operation reportedly dealt a major blow to the drug-fueled insurgency in the area and contributed to the cause of preventing the youth from falling victim to the drug menace.
Assam Rifles assured to continue its efforts to achieve a drug free society.
