Guwahati: At least four people were reported dead and 70 others injured after the Northeast Express derailed near Raghunathpur railway station in Bihar’s Buxar district on the evening of October 11, according to news agency PTI.
The train, which was traveling from Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi to Kamakhya Junction in Guwahati, Assam, saw six of its coaches derailed at 9:53 pm, with two AC 3-tier coaches overturned and four other coaches. Jumped off the tracks.
The Ministry of Railways has confirmed the derailment. Buxar Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar reported that four passengers died in the accident and a railway police force official said at least 70 passengers were injured and shifted to local hospitals.
The critically injured have been shifted to AIIMS in Patna. In response to the incident, immediate relief measures were initiated, including the dispatch of ambulances and doctors to the scene.
Additionally, 21 trains including the Rajdhani Express between Delhi and Dibrugarh have been diverted.According to a statement from East Central Railway Zone, two trains, Kashi Patna Jn Shatabdi Express (15125) and Patna Kashi Jan Shatabdi Express (15126) have been cancelled.
