In Bishnupur two civilians, 1 state force personnel injured in attack

Imphal: On July 8, suspected miscreants carried out separate attacks, injuring two civilians and a state force personnel in Bishnupur district. The violence followed the previous clashes on July 6.
Additional security forces have been deployed since the initial violence to establish a buffer zone and prevent further incidents of firing.
Despite these measures, sporadic firing continued between the two communities during the nights of July 7 and July 8, particularly in the areas of Awang Leikai and Phoisingphai. A non-fatal casualty, including a Manipur police commando, was reported in the early hours of July 8.
There was no incident of firing in the general area between 8th and 9th July.
In one of the attacks, an official of Bishnupur District Police Commando was shot in his left ankle when suspected miscreants targeted a state force bunker using sniper rifles.
The incident took place on the morning of July 8 at Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Mamang Leikai. The injured person, identified as 43-year-old Kambam Rameshor, a resident of Yairipok Khoirom, was given immediate medical attention at District Hospital, Bishnupur and shifted to Raj Medicity for more treatment.
Additionally, a civilian who had gone to his farm was also targeted by the miscreants, he was injured by gunshots at around 8:50 am on July 8.
The attack took place at Phubala Maning Leikai Chingya Loukon, located 4 km north of Moirang police station under Bishnupur district. Central forces were present in the area to provide security to the villagers.
Instead of retaliating against the miscreants, officers from a nearby Sikh regiment mistakenly fired at the farmers.
The injured civilian, identified as 40-year-old Yumnam Ranjan, was hit below the buttocks and was immediately treated at the Bishnupur District Hospital before being shifted to Raj Medical Center for further medical care.
Another civilian, 18-year-old Md Waris Khan, was hit by a mortar blast from unknown miscreants firing mortars from Thangjing foothill area. The mortar hit Khan’s house injuring him. After medical treatment, he was discharged from the hospital.
