Imphal: On Monday morning, Manipur police commandos recovered a total of 21 old rusted AK rifle magazines from a fish farming pond at Nambol Thiam village, about 15 km from Imphal in Bishnupur district.
The search operation was initiated following a complaint by fish farm owner RK Ajoy Singh, who discovered the magazines during development work in the pond.
Singh told the police that insurgents have been frequenting the village while the insurgency was peaceful about two decades ago.
Since then, commandos of the Imphal West district police reached the spot and launched a search operation that led to the recovery of 21 magazines.
The recovered items have been kept at Imphal West District Police Station for further legal action and investigation.
