Tripura:A tense situation erupted in Tripura’s Belonia and Bishalgarh constituencies on February 12 following clash between BJP and CPI(M) Congress workers.
Five BJP and CPI(M) Congress workers sustained injuries during the morning clash.
According to reports, BJP workers attacked a CPI(M) election rally in Belonia, following which five BJP workers were injured in a joint retaliatory attack by the CPI(M) and Congress. Apart from this, five Congress workers were injured in a BJP attack in Bishalgarh.
The injured were immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Congress and CPI(M) workers protested earlier today, blocking the road in front of the Bishalgarh police station and demanding the arrest of alleged BJP goons.
CPI(M) and Congress leaders alleged that the police failed to play any role in preventing attacks and counter-attacks on Congress workers in Bishalgarh and Belonia.
According to reports, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman met the police officer of Bishalgarh police station after receiving information about the Bishalgarh incident. They went to the police station but did not find any senior police officer inside the police station. He demanded the immediate arrest of the BJP attackers.
