The bridge on the Daranga River collapsed due to the rise in water level due to continuous rains. The rapid flow of the river flowing from Bhutan broke the bridge on the Jalah-Kumarikata road, leaving the Kumarikata-Jalah road isolated.
As a result, traffic on the road has come to a standstill, posing major challenges to daily commuters, school students, and college students who rely heavily on the route.
In voicing their concerns, local people emphasized the impact of the bridge collapse on the community. Many people used the bridge for their daily commute, and now its absence creates difficulties for students trying to reach their schools.
The community is urging the authorities to expedite the construction of a new bridge to restore traffic flow and ensure easy access to schools and other essential services.
The flood situation in Tamulpur sub-division is not limited to bridge collapse. Dimila Chowk, another area of the sub-division, has also been flooded, resulting in the inundation of the Tamulpur-Dhamdhama-Mushalpur road.
Additionally, the iron bridge over theLatibari-Doamakha Bolia river has been damaged, resulting in a complete disruption of traffic on the stretch.
In a separate incident, the Baralia river near Rangia caused havoc, creating a bridge known as Bahar Bridge. Fortunately, quick action and rescue efforts saved many lives.
