In Assam Jail SGPC Lawyers group Meets Pro-Khalistani prisoners

Assam:A delegation of lawyers from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) reached Dibrugarh in Assam and met members of the pro-Khalistan organization ‘Wars Punjab De’ who are currently lodged in the Dibrugarh Central Jail.
A panel of lawyers including SGPC member and advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Sandeep (Deep) Singh Sidhu’s brother Advocate Mandeep Singh Sidhu and Advocate Rohit Sharma have been tasked with providing legal support.
According to sources, the committee’s lawyers met eight people who were detained in jail after they were nabbed by the Punjab Police following a crackdown on Waris-the-Punjab chief Amrit Pal Singh and his associates.
The SGPC is pursuing the cases of the eight persons who have been detained under the NSA.

Meanwhile, sharing information from Assam, Advocate Sialka said that eight youths in Dibrugarh Jail are in ‘charhdi kala’ (high spirits).
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that on the orders of the Akal Takht judge, the cases of youths imprisoned under NSA in Dibrugarh are being pursued.
He said that legal experts of SGPC have started their work after visiting the ground. He further said that the legal team has prepared further action after meeting the arrested youth and officials of the Dibrugarh Jail administration.
Notably, eight people, including Amritpal Singh’s bodyguard, are currently lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail.
On the other hand, Papalpreet Singh, a close associate of Amritpal, was arrested on Monday in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters, Sukhchain Singh Gill said Papalpreet was arrested under the National Security Act (NSA).
“Amritpal Singh’s key associate Papalpreet Singh has been arrested by the Amritsar rural police from Kathu Nangal area. The arrest has been made under the National Security Act. Besides, he is wanted in six cases,” Gill said.
