In Arunachal Pradesh along China border ITBP to set up new posts
Itanagar: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has decided to set up more border posts along the China border in Arunachal Pradesh.
Additionally, newly recruited ITBP troops will also be deployed along the China border in Arunachal Pradesh.
Sources told The Telegraph that the decision was taken to “close loopholes” in sensitive areas.
The development comes barely a week after China released a “standard map” showing Arunachal Pradesh as part of its territory.
According to reports, Chinese patrols have been repeatedly violating the border with India in the Arunachal Pradesh sector.
An ITBP official was quoted as saying by The Telegraph that “ITBP senior officers have decided to set up additional border posts and deploy recently recruited troops in vulnerable areas which Arunachal Pradesh is suffering from Chinese infiltration.”
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has also reportedly increased its frontline formations in several sensitive areas along the border with India in the Arunachal Pradesh sector.
The Chinese PLA is reportedly expanding infrastructure along the border with India.
“The creation of additional posts and deployment of more troops will help us keep a close eye on the movement of Chinese troops in sensitive areas,” another ITBP official was quoted as saying.
It may be mentioned here that the Center had approved the raising of seven additional battalions (9400 personnel) to the ITBP in February this year.
Three of the seven newly sanctioned battalions are now ready for deployment, the report said.
