Itanagar: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed its desire to field candidates in all 60 assembly constituencies and two Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh in next year’s general elections.
AAP state unit general secretary Toko Nikam told reporters that the party is committed to providing up to Rs 1 million free water, electricity, medical facilities and world-class education if it comes to power in the northeastern state in 2024.
Nikam said that if elected to power, AAP would repeal the controversial Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (APUAPA) 2014 and Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act 1978.
Protests erupted in the northeastern state after the state government booked 40 people under APUAPA for calling a 72-hour shutdown in the state capital this year.
Several organizations called on the state government to repeal the Act, which was implemented in 2014 by the Nabam Tuki-led Congress government in the state.
According to the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Expression Act, 1978, no person shall directly or otherwise convert a person belonging to any religious faith by the use of force or inducement or by any fraud nor shall any The person will encourage it. Any such change.
Nikam said the party would resolve the failure of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) within six months and abolish the Arunachal Pradesh State Service Selection Board to end corrupt practices.
“AAP will also erect a ‘statue of honesty’ in honor of Gyamar Padang, the whistleblower in the APPSC paper leak case,” he said.
The paper leak came to light when Gyamar Padang, a candidate for the written exam for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) conducted by APPSC, filed a case at the Itanagar police station alleging that the exam The leaflets were leaked.
Last year, more than 400 candidates appeared in the exam held on August 26 and 27.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the APPSC paper leak case on October 26 last year.
Nikam said the party’s priorities include building a world-class city road in the capital region, enforcing a complete ban on out-of-turn promotions in various departments and ensuring all-weather road connectivity to the district headquarters.
AAP aims to establish a fully functional Lokayukta in the state, provide world-class medical facilities at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), permanent casual laborers and ALCs (Auxiliary Labor Corps). who are serving in various departments. 12 to 20 years and above, increase the wages of ‘Village Barahs’ and establish Village Council Courts in accordance with the Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation, 1945.
The party also plans to raise the 3rd and 4th Arunachal Pradesh Armed Police Battalions to create employment opportunities for the youth.
When asked about the financial burden associated with the pledges, Nikam said the party would formulate policies to equitably utilize the funds provided by the central government and share of state taxes.
