
In Aizawl Zo united leadership agreed to unite Zo-ethnic groups
Aizawl: The leadership of the newly formed Zo United, an organization aimed at uniting the Zo ethnic communities in Manipur, has been installed at the Central YMA Hall in Aizawl. The event, chaired by Manipur’s only Zo ethnic cabinet minister Letpao Haokip, was attended by two Zo ministers and five MLAs along with 48 leaders representing Zo ethnic groups in Manipur.
Various representatives of the organizations expressed their commitment to ensure cooperation and smooth functioning of Zo United, which was officially established on September 6, 2023, under the leadership of the NGO Coordination Committee.
The newly elected leadership of Zo United is as follows:
• Convener: Mr. Albert L. Renthlei, MPCC
• Co-Convener:
1. Mr. John K. Ngaihte, Zomi Council
2. Mr. Ajang Khongsai, Kuki House, Manipur
• Secretary (Recording): Pu Lalhrillien, Hmar Inpui
• Secretary (Finance): Mr. Thanglen Kipgen
• Secretary (Info & Pub.): Mr. Pagin Haokip
Additionally, committee members representing various organizations were also made part of Zo United’s leadership.
The main objective of Zo United is to bring together the Zoo brothers and sisters living in Manipur.
The formation of the organization followed the unanimous decision taken during the NGO Coordination Committee meeting in Mizoram on September 6, 2023, chaired by the President of the Central Young Mizo Association, to unite the Zo ethnic groups under the banner of ‘Zo United’.
