In Aizawl tribal body held massive rally against clashes in Manipur
Aizawl: Responding to a call by the Mizoram-based Zo Reunification Organization (ZORO), hundreds of people on Saturday took out a protest rally in Aizawl to express solidarity with Manipur’s tribals.
ZORO is a Chin-Kuki-Mizo-Zomi group organization that seeks to reunify all Zo people and bring them under one administrative unit.
A large number of people including students participated in the protest rally.
ZORO General Secretary L. Ramdinliana Renthlei warned that the Mizo youths of Mizoram will come out to defend their brothers in Manipur if they face atrocities by miscreants.
He said that despite attacks by ethnic Zo tribes in the neighboring state, Mizo has held back as no Manipur resident has been harmed in Mizoram.
Renthlei also said that the Mizo people will not sit idle and ignore the suffering of their brothers in the neighboring state.
The protesters passed a number of resolutions including measures to reunite the Zo or Mizo tribes and bring them under one administrative seat through peaceful means.
The protestors also affirmed that the Zofate or Zo tribes, who are scattered across the three countries of India, Bangladesh and Myanmar, belong to the same stock and are related by blood.
