Imphal: The employees of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) have decided to take a mass casual leave from May 22 to May 24 over non-payment of salary for nine months.
Speaking to the media at the IMC office at Kanglapat today, general secretary of IMC Employees’ Union L Lokendro said that withholding their salaries for so many months has put the IMC staff in a miserable position and many of them are unable to meet the educational needs of their children and other day to day activities.
He said that they have already urged the relevant authorities to release their salaries.
Saying that their salaries have to be released before the 15th of every month, Lokendro urged the authority at Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) to seek a package from the State Government to pay them.
He also said that re-engagement of pensioners should not be allowed.
