If govt fails to stop job hiring process VPP to protest in Meghalaya

During a gathering at the Additional Secretariat in Shillong, VPP President Ardent Basiawmoit said that if the government fails to issue a notification to stop the recruitment process for all government jobs after submitting its petition today, it will Will organize a protest.
Four party MLAs: Mawlai MLA Brightstarwell Marbaniang, North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum, Mawryngkneng MLA Heaving Stone Kharpran and Nongkrem MLA Ardent Basiawmoit were all present during the public gathering.
In a chat with Media, VPP President Ardent Basiawmoit said he wants the government to review the reservation policy and the party’s move is not against his Garo brothers and sisters. “We just want to ensure that the policy is proportionately reserved, as per the population structure of the state. We will not take away rights and we are not asking the government to scrap the reservation policy,” ‘ Basiawmoit emphasized.

“We have two main tribes and the government itself is following the reservation policy framed by the government. There is a problem with this policy because it has not been reserved according to the population structure of the people living in the state. We feel That if the government is implementing the roster system in its current form and recruiting and filling the posts, it will create many problems for the unemployed youth of the state,” Basiawmoit said.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the area and the gates of the Central Secretariat have been locked and guarded by police. After negotiations between the VPP leaders with the magistrate, 15 people were allowed to go to the secretariat to assist the two VPP leaders who went to present the petition to Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar.
