IAS officer Varnali Deka is being protected by BJP in assult case

GUWAHATI: The BJP government in Assam has been accused of protecting IAS officer Varnali Deka, who allegedly attacked the deputy commissioner’s office in Kokrajhar along with class-four staff on Saturday evening.

Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka allegedly slapped peon Deepak Das and threw food at him for ‘not bringing his lunch box in a carry bag’.
Decca, a 2009-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, faced widespread criticism on social media after the incident came to light on Sunday morning.

Several social media users strongly condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the 44-year-old IAS officer.
Sensing trouble, DC Deka apologizes to Deepak Das for attacking him and persuades his daughter to withdraw the FIR.
After this incident Sunita Das, daughter of Deepak Das filed a complaint against the Deputy Commissioner at Kokrajhar Police Station.
Sunita expressed her displeasure against the Deputy Commissioner for taking her father’s signature on a paper, the contents of which she was not allowed to read.
He also questioned Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as to why no action was taken against the IAS officer.

What stops the CM from taking action against the DC? Now, we feel that no one is standing with us,” said Sunita.

He also vowed to continue his fight until his father gets justice.

Meanwhile, a video clip of DC Deka talking insultingly to 55-year-old Deepak Das at RNB Hospital in Kokrajhar has also surfaced.

Social media users have criticized the IAS officer for talking to Das in a hospital bed in an insulting manner.
