Hunger strike of Khalistani leader Amritpal denied by jail officials

Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh Jail authorities have denied that a hunger strike has been conducted by pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh and his associates in Dibrugarh Central Jail.

According to sources in Dibrugarh Central Jail, there is no truth in the news that pro-Khalistan Amritpal Singh has started a hunger strike along with other prisoners in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail.
The jail official said that they are taking regular food in the jail.

Recently, there were some reports in the national media that Amritpal Singh and his colleagues, lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail, have started a hunger strike due to alleged restrictions on access of their chosen counsel in the jail premises. This news was published in some national newspapers but there is no truth in it.
On April 23, Amritpal Singh was brought to Dibrugarh Central Jail after he was arrested by the Punjab Police from Moga district in Punjab.

Nine associates of Amritpal Singh who are also lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail have also been booked under the NSA.
The 9 arrested persons are – Daljit Singh Kalsi, Papalpreet Singh, Kluwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Basant Singh and Gurinderpal Singh Aujla under National Security Act (NSA) Dibrugarh Central were in jail.
