Humanta Sarma was re-elected as the President of Badminton India.

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been re-elected as the unopposed president of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) for another term (2022 to 2026) at the general body meeting of the association here on Friday. ۔

Winter, who took over the reins of BAI in 2017, has been instrumental in raising significant funds for the sport’s development over the past four years.

It should be noted that Sarma is also the Vice President of Badminton Asia and a member of the Executive Council of the Badminton World Federation.

“Badminton has been booming in India for the last two decades and we are determined to continue this boom by providing players with better facilities and a strong governance system,” said Sarma after his re-election as BAI President.

Former junior national coach Sanjay Mishra will be the new general secretary and current Ajay Kumar Singhania will be the vice president in the new executive council.

Chief national coach Pullela Gopi Chand will also step into the BAI administration after being elected vice-president along with Anbumani Ramadoss and ten others.
The newly elected executive council will have 12 vice presidents, as well as eight joint secretaries and an equal number of committee members, a statement said.
