Imphal: A powerful explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) has rocked a village in Manipur’s Jiribam district.
A suspected IED blast occurred in the early hours of Friday in Durgapur village of Borobekra sub-division in Jiribam district of Manipur.
A suspected IED planted by unknown miscreants exploded outside a shop owned by H Mani Kumar Singh.
The incident took place at around 2:20 pm and caused considerable damage to the shop, but no casualties were reported.
It is said that this is not the first time such an attack has targeted the shop as miscreants have attacked it before, who fired shots at its closed windows.
Officials of Manipur’s Borobekra police station immediately responded to the spot and started investigating the incident and registered a case.
Due to the explosion, there is concern among the local residents regarding security in the area.
Further updates on the investigation are awaited as authorities work to determine the motive behind the attack.
