Heavy rains are likely to continue in the northeast for the next five days.


Guwahati: Heavy rains will continue to soak eight northeastern states for the next five days, India’s Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.

From the Bay of Bengal to the northeast, strong south-westerly winds on the lower tropospheric surfaces, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, with thundershowers / lightning / strong winds, a lot of rain is expected. Over the next five days, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim.
The IMD said isolated heavy rains are expected in Assam and Meghalaya during the next five days.

All eight northeastern states have been receiving heavy rains for the past few days.

The IMD further said that scattered rain storms / lightning / strong winds are likely in Bihar, Jharkhand, Ganges, West Bengal and Odisha during the next five days.
