Harsh comments on ENPO demand, Konyak body summons NDPP

Kohima: Konyak Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Saturday issued a summons to Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) President Chingwang Konyak over his statement on Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) demand for Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT).
Through a letter, the tribal body summoned the NDPP chief for his “recent actions which have violated the clear directives set by the Konyak Union (KU) on March 30, 2024, and to all its citizens. Instructed not to engage in commentaries on the ENPO FNT matter”.
According to tribal agencies, Chingwang Konyak made “negative remarks” during an election rally in Wokha on Friday.

“You have also on multiple occasions, made unfavorable comments regarding the FNT issue. Your repeated disregard to the Eastern Nagaland (EN) community and the Konyaks in particular is totally unacceptable,” the tribal bodies said.

According to them, the former MP’s actions not only defied the authority of the Konyak CSO but also brought “disgrace and humiliation” upon the Eastern Nagaland community, particularly the Konyak people.

“Your conduct is unbecoming of a responsible citizen and a leader,” they said.

Signed by the KU president Tingthok Konyak, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) president Ponglem Konka and Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) president Noklem Konyak, the CSOs summoned the senior politician to appear at the Konyak Union office at Mon Headquarters within “48 hours” of receiving the notice to address the “violations” and to “explain” himself.

“Failure to comply with this summon will leave the Konyak CSO with no option but to initiate stern disciplinary action against you. We ask you to treat this matter with utmost seriousness,” the CSOs warned.
