Guwahati child-abuse case victims Police traces for parents

GUWAHATI: As progress continues in the Guwahati, Assam child abuse case involving Couple, Dr. Sangeeta Dutta and Dr. Waliul Islam, the police have found ways to reach out to the parents of the abused children.

According to a source, two Asha activists were involved in the incident and gave the children to Dutta’s PA, Utpala Bose.
One of the Asha activists was arrested from Jalukbari while the other was from Dhiren Para in Guwahati.
They were arrested on the basis of a statement by Utpal Bose who claimed that they had given him the children.

Based on the investigation, the police have traced the parents of the children in Barpeta, Assam but the investigation is on to verify the facts, a source added.
It may be noted that Utpal Bose was arrested on Friday night and is suspected to be one of the prime accused in the case.

He was the one who “managed” the children for Dr. Sangeeta Dutta and Dr. Waliul Islam.

Both doctors were accused of “inhumane” torture of children. He was even accused of tying children to the roof of his apartment complex.
Most of the time it was told during the scorching heat.

Child rights activists in Guwahati had received several complaints about alleged child abuse, but had no option as there were no witnesses to corroborate the allegations.

However, recently a neighbor approached the police about the incident and based on the input, the police nabbed the couple.
While Dr. Waliul Islam was arrested earlier, Dr. Sangeeta Dutta denied the charges before fleeing in a video. He was later arrested from a house in Jorabat area.

In the video, he denied all the allegations leveled against him, terming them as third-party conspiracies.
She even claimed that someone wanted to destroy her career and added that her domestic helpers were paid huge sums of money to frame her.

In another incident, Sangeeta Dutta told the media that the police were also involved in the conspiracy.

However, the investigation of the matter is still going on.
