Imphal: A 37-year-old Assamese man was injured in a grenade blast by unidentified assailants in Manipur’s Noney district on Sunday evening, officials said on Sunday.
The attack targeted the base camp office of the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI), an infrastructure company based in Noney district.
Unknown assailants hurled a grenade at the office around 7 pm on Saturday.
ABCI operator Kamir Ali (37) sustained injuries on his forehead and chest from a bomb shell.
He was rushed to a nearby health center for medical treatment. Police identified him as the son of Somsal Alum from Assam‘s Nalbari district.
ABCI is working on a National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) project to construct a two-lane highway between Rangkui and Khongsang on National Highway 37, connecting Imphal to Silchar via Jiribam.
Police suspect extortion could be the motive behind the attack.
A case has been registered at the Noney police station. As of this report, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
