
Gram Panchayat Chairman abducted by militants before Lok Sabha
Itanagar: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Gram Panchayat Chairman (GPC) was abducted by an armed militant group in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.
According to reports, Sangam Wangsu (50), also a BJP member, was abducted from his house at gunpoint by the militant group.
The police have started a search operation to find the abducted person.
According to reports, Longding Pumao Assembly Constituency in the troubled Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh was accused of forcing voters to support a particular candidate under the threat of a militant group.
Armed militants allegedly linked to the NSCN-KYA have reportedly been spotted in villages including Niuasa, Longkhaw, Mintong and Longphong in the same constituency.
