Guwahati: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, during his visit to Sivasagar district on Tuesday held a series of meetings with the delegations of district administration officers, heads of various departments, security agencies, at ONGC Assam Asset with civic bodies in Nazira. Had a meeting.
During the meeting, the Governor discussed the status of implementation of various schemes of the Central and State Governments with the DC, SP, and heads of other departments in the district.
He asked Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav to monitor the progress of all the schemes and ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach the grassroots.
The heads of the district departments apprised the Governor about the level of implementation of various schemes including PMKSY, PMFBY, paddy procurement etc.
Regarding agriculture, the governor said that along with traditional farming, the district machinery should help farmers in alternative farming methods for higher production.
On the education front, the governor also reviewed the education situation and school dropouts in the tea garden areas.
The governor also asked about the implementation of PM potion schemes in schools.
The implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission was also brought up in the meeting as the Governor asked the district administration to ensure full implementation of the project in the district.
The Governor also reviewed the health infrastructure and health care delivery system including emergency health facilities.
He also took notice of the blood bank infrastructure in the district.
Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, PMJAY-EKYC, Janani Suraksha Yojana, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram etc. have also been discussed.
Inquiring about the social welfare works, the Governor asked the head of the department about the status of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Poshan Abhiyan.
He also reviewed the status of MNREGA, Amrit Sarovar, PMAY-G and others.
Superintendent of Police Subharjyoti Bora also gave a detailed presentation about the law and order situation in the district.
The governor asked the SP to dispose of all the pending cases expeditiously.
He also took notice of the road safety measures taken by the police administration.
Earlier ONGC officials briefed the Governor of Assam about ONGC activities in Assam.
The Governor asked about the history of oil and natural gas in Upper Assam.
The governor also requested the ONGC to provide skill training to empower the youth in their chosen fields as part of its corporate social responsibility.
